The archaeological complex is located to 23 kilometers of Calca city into the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Cusco at 3850 meters above sea level. The access to this center is by the road to Lares valley and Lacco valley.
The name of complex comes from the union of two Runasimi words: Ancash (blue) and Marka (town), together would be pronounced "Blue Town", but also say comes from the union of another two runasimi words: Anca (eagle) and Marka (town), together "Town where the eagles live".
This geographic area that present the archaeological center of Ancasmarca is a little rocky, where predominate the vegetal specie "Ichu" and the precipitations that is appreciate in the area are strong, in special in the months of october to march.
For to reach to this complex, it can be performed in two ways, one of them is walking about 2 hours and the second one is in 40 minutes by car approximately.
