Day 01: Cusco - Ollantaytambo - KM. 104 - Machu Picchu

We will pick up you from your hotel to Ollantaytambo from here we will take the train to the Km. 104. Were we starting our hike crossing by a hanging bridge over the Urubamba River to approach the small but interesting Inca archaeological complex of Chachabamba site. After a visit of this site we will begin a four hours ascent to the enclosure of Wiñay Wayna 2700m. (8858 ft.) An important Inka spiritual site, and one of the most impressive around the Inca trails. At this point the trail joins with the main Inca Trail. From here we will be walking on Inca trail. The Inca trail cuts across the ridge above Machu Picchu to finally reach Intipunku or Sun Gate, from here the trail is downhill (40 minutes) into the lost citadel of Machu Picchu at 2450m.(8038 ft.) We will take a bus to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town) hostel accommodation, and then we will visit the thermal baths. (optional).

Day 02: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Private guided tour of Machu Picchu, the most spectacular ancient city in the world. Built by the Inka Pachacuteq, this fabulous city has houses, temples warehouses, a large central square, all connected by narrow roads and steps, and is surrounded by terraces cut into the mountain side which were used for agriculture. After the tour approximately Two hours, free time to enjoy this magical and spiritual Citadel. Lunch, return to hotel in Cusco.

What do I need to bring?

  • Small backpack with rain shelter (30 or 40 litters is well enough).
  • Clothing for warm and cold climate like a waterproof jacket.
  • Trekking shoes.
  • Slippers or sandals (for showers and hot springs).
  • Woolen or synthetic socks and a sweater.
  • Long- and short-sleeved polo’s/T-Shirts.
  • Rainponcho and a hat.
  • Bathing suit (for the hot springs in Aguas Calientes).
  • Sunscreen, insect repellent, disinfecting alcohol and gel and toilet paper.
  • Camera (wrapped in plastic bag), a flash light and batteries.
  • Some snacks like chocolate bars and dry fruit.
  • Original passport, original ISIC student card (In case you are student) and extra money in soles.
