Located in Cusco department, Salkantay (6,271 feet) is the final part of the trek that combines a majestic setting with great natural beauty and the most famous pre-Hispanic ruins of the world which are Machu Picchu and Inca Trail. The route begins touring the old Inca road carved in rock that leads to Machu Picchu and crosses mountains that pass between the glaciers of Humantay and Salkantay (5,917 f), to finish on Aobamba valley and reach the archaeological site.

Day 01: Cusco - Mollepata - Soraypampa.
Day 02: Soraypampa - Huaytac - Colpabamba.
Day 03: Colpabamba - Bluscamayu - Playa. 
Day 04: Playa - Machu Picchu Pueblo.
Day 05: Machu Picchu Pueblo - Machu Picchu - Cusco.

Day 01: Cusco - Mollepata - Soraypampa.

In the morning we pick you up from hotel in a private bus with destiny to Mollepata (2.800 msnm), and during our journey we can see the amazing Limatambo viewpoints(Ushnu of Tarawasi) and this site have a flower made in stone by Incas people, after that we can arrive to Mollepata, where we will meet with the horsemen and mules for to give our trek around six hours, across communities of Cruzpata and Silkancha, then we will arrive to our first camp in Soraypampa village. Dinner and overnight.

Day 02: Soraypampa - Huaytac - Colpabamba

After Breakfast, we will begin with our journey around four hours to arrive at the first step (4400 msnm). Since this site we can see the beautiful Salkantay view (6261 msnm) and then we will appreciate the Huamantay panoramic views and Huaynay mountains.  Later we are going to descend about three hours to Colpabamba (3300 msnm), where we install the base camp. Dinner and Overnight.

Day 03: Colpabamba - Bluscamayu - Playa

After breakfast. We will start with our journey through the beautiful views and later we will see the Cloudforest, where we appreciate the coffee plantations, fruit trees (bananas and oranges). With any luck we will see the national bird “Gallito De Las Rocas”. We lunch in the edge of the river and later we starting with our walk about three hours. Then we arrive to Sahuayaco, where we will install the base camp. Dinner and Overnight.

Day 04: Playa - Machu Picchu Pueblo.

After breakfast. We will begin with our journey around three hours, in this path we passing by Santa Teresa town, and then we arrive to Hidroelectrica (trek option), where we take the train to Machu Picchu Town, Here where you can enjoy one relax moment for visit the town and going to warm waters. We are staying in cozy hotel. Dinner and Overnight.

Day 05: Machu Picchu Pueblo - Machu Picchu - Cusco.

This day we wake up very early and after breakfast we will begin our journey around one hour to Intipunku (sun gate), we will obtain to see the fabulous sunrise, and you can appreciate the panoramic view of Machu Picchu Sanctuary, then we will descend and going over the magic place into full energy and culture, with a guide tour for facilities, squares, sacred founds, temples, towards, agricultural and urban sector, condor temple and the graveyard. In The Afternoon we will begin our return to Machu Picchu Town and later we pick up the train to Cusco. Arrive to Cusco and transfer to hotel.

Advise for what to bring

  • Sleeping bag
  • Thick, warm clothing, just a change of clothes.
  • Hat or sun cap, sunglasses.
  • 01 pair of hiking boots, a waterproof jacket and a rain poncho.
  • A flashlight with extra batteries.
  • Sunscreen and mosquito repellent.
  • Personal first aid equipment.
  • Bottled water for the first day and then use purification tablets (Micropur).
  • Toilet paper, small towel, a backpack.
  • Swimsuit (if you want to visit the hot springs)
  • Matras and Mats (are provided by our company but you must carry them).
  • Original passport, cash in soles and / or U.S. dollars.
