Cusco historical museums and casonas

An excellent way to get to know the history of Cusco is to visit its museums as well as the colonial houses that are still preserved with its intact architecture and impressive legacy, it is as if history had stopped to show us how our Inca ancestors lived in their palaces and temples. On whose bases the history continues with the constructions of the beautiful colonial houses that are part of the attraction of Cusco.

Within the museums we can mention the Inka Museum, located in Cuesta del Almirante street in a beautiful mansion called El Palacio del Almirante that in Inca time was the home of Huascar twelfth Inca of Tahuantinsuyo, in it we can appreciate objects referring to our Inca history as Pre-Inca, ceramics, ceremonial dolls, agricultural tools etc, as well as an area with objects related to the Spanish invasion.

Another Museum within the historical center is the Museo de la Casa Garcilaso, a 16th century building built on Inca terraces that made up Cusipata Square, where our illustrious writer, Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, lived. There are vestiges of Inca and Pre Inca, objects Colonial as a collection of paintings of the Cusquenian School.

And another museum impossible to miss is the Museo de Arte Pre Colombino, located in a historical monument as Casa Cabrera is located in the  Nazarenas Square, a few meters from the Main Squeare, as its name indicates this museum Highlights all the art of pre-Columbian Peru such as ceramics and sculptures. All of these museums are located within the historic center to make your tour easier.
